intermediate PROGRAM

level 4 – Ages 11 to 13

Level 4 is the introductory level in the Upper School. With the addition of more ballet classes, come new exciting opportunities for the Level 4 student. Flamenco and Jazz dance classes become part of their curriculum. In addition, girls begin dancing en pointe.  Students will be invited to dance on pointe by the instructor. Dancers should not purchase pointe shoes prior to instruction. This milestone step in a young dancers training requires a slow methodical approach to ensure that the strength needed to dance on pointe successfully is addressed. Due to the difficulty of pointe work, the class is designed for students who are new to level 4 or returning to Level 4 to strengthen their pointe work. Students should expect two consecutive years of study, at minimum, for completion of Level 4. All students are required to bring a single subject spiral notebook to class to notate ballet terminology and practice exercises for homework. Performance opportunities include annual School Performance and The Nutcracker. Acceptance and casting for the production is at the sole discretion of the Artistic Staff of the Kansas City Ballet’s professional company. Register Now
