Kansas City Ballet seldom cancels performances due to inclement weather.
An exception to this is an official city-wide emergency that requires citizens not be on the streets. On the unlikely chance that Kansas City Ballet cancels a performance, such cancellation will be announced no later than 2 hours prior to the scheduled start of the show. The means of communication will include radio announcements as possible, television announcements as possible, email notices to the patron email we have on record as well as announcements on our website and telephone voice mail message at our Box Office number (816.931.8993).
Patrons should always assume the performance will proceed as scheduled unless a cancellation notice is given through our website/voice mail message or these other channels. Do not call or contact the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts; the center is our leased venue and may not have current information to advise you regarding the Ballet’s schedule.
If Kansas City Ballet performs as scheduled, best efforts will be made to accommodate those patrons unable to attend the performance due to inclement weather by offering them the option of moving to another future performance of the same production (exchange fees apply). We cannot guarantee seating in this case, especially if the weather event occurs near the close of a particular run and if a particular program has been very popular and has been sold heavily in advance.
Under no circumstances does Kansas City Ballet refund or exchange the purchase price of tickets if the performance has occurred. This does not mean we expect patrons to place themselves in danger by travelling to the theater against their best judgment. It is Kansas City Ballet’s belief that patrons should use their best judgment regarding travel to and from Kansas City Ballet events and always place their personal safety and that of their family as their first and highest priority.
In the rare occurrence that Kansas City Ballet cancels a performance due to a city weather or other emergency, Kansas City Ballet will promptly refund the cost of the ticket(s) but will not be responsible for any “third party” costs such as the facility fees or parking fees, both of which are “pass through” fees and are not retained by Kansas City Ballet.
