KC Youth Ballet Fall Performance

November 1-3, 2019

Kansas City Youth Ballet (KCYB) will present Ice Queen for its Fall Performance 2019. This program also includes works by Haley Kostas, Emily Mistretta and Marcus Oatis. Run time approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes, including a 15 minute intermission. Kansas City Youth Ballet is the official performing ensemble of Kansas City Ballet School.


The Nutcracker Ball

Don’t miss the most festive party in town — the Ballet Guild’s 52nd annual Nutcracker Ball at InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza. The Ball benefits Kansas City Ballet and celebrates the Ballet’s holiday classic The Nutcracker. The evening begins with an enchanting cocktail hour accompanied by endless Christmas goodies, followed by a delicious three-course meal and a behind-the-scenes VIP performance by Kansas City Ballet dancers. Dance all night at Kansas City’s premier holiday event!

Sugar Plum Fairy Children’s Ball

Join the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy and her friends as they entertain you at the Muehlebach Tower of the Marriott in downtown Kansas City at 10:30 a.m. for a morning full of magic. Each child will receive a complimentary photo with the Sugar Plum Fairy and delight in complimentary face painting. Guests will enjoy shopping for holiday gifts at the toy shoppe or our fun silent auction, and will dine on a delicious three-course luncheon. Following the ball, guests will attend the matinee performance of Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney’s The Nutcracker at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Partnering with Children’s Mercy Hospital, Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City, and Breedlove Family Foundation, Kansas City Ballet is pleased to present a sensory-friendly performance of The Nutcracker for children, families and adults with sensory sensitivities, autism spectrum disorder or other special needs. Appropriate changes will be made to this performance to create a welcoming and safe space for all in attendance. Tickets available by phone only and on sale now.


Dance Speaks: Swan Lake

This Dance Speaks provides an opportunity for the community-at-large to get a sneak peek of a Swan Lake rehearsal and gain behind the scenes information regarding KC Ballet’s production. Experience this marriage of ballet and Irish dance! Kansas City Ballet’s Artistic Director Devon Carney moderates what promises to be an interesting panel discussion with the choreographer of Celts, Lila York, and other special guests. Celts, a stunning fusion of Irish Folk Dance and Ballet is set to the music of The Chieftains and more. A celebration of Irish culture, it brings audiences to their feet with its intense choreographed jigs and captivating energy. Come see a rehearsal with Lila York and KCB company dancers before the production opens. Tickets are $12.


Second Company @Home

This is a full evening of dance with KCB’s Second Company performing a variety of both classical and custom-made contemporary works. This emerging professionals’ program gives extraordinarily talented young dancers a professional company experience as prelude to their joining a professional company. KCB’s Second Company performs throughout the region through public performances, lecture demonstrations, residencies and workshops, enabling the community to experience live dance in a public setting.
