Reach Out And Dance (R.O.A.D.)
R.O.A.D. is a 24-week in-school dance residency program for elementary schools, taught by professional teaching artists from Kansas City Ballet to live piano accompaniment.
This weekly movement class (not ballet) takes place in your school during the school day. The curriculum is designed for 3rd or 4th grade students, introducing students to the fundamentals of dance: space, time, effort, self-discipline and cooperative learning. Lessons integrate your school’s academic curriculum and are based on National, Missouri, and Kansas State Education Standards. R.O.A.D. culminates in a very special end-of-year performance for the families of R.O.A.D. students, a R.O.A.D. Rally.
Participation in R.O.A.D. requires no special dance clothing, shoes, or equipment.
Fee: Costs vary based on school numbers.
“R.O.A.D. has helped our students by encouraging teamwork, reinforcing our curriculum and by introducing an art form that many would never see.”
“I have a totally non-speaking child. R.O.A.D. helped to bridge the gap. He was so proud of his R.O.A.D. accomplishments, and he didn’t have to talk to be good.”
And students love R.O.A.D.!
“I feel good about myself…proud…like a superstar.
