On Sunday, August 25, 2019, Kansas City Ballet Guild hosted their Kick Off Party at Lydia’s in Kansas City Crossroads’ historic Freight House. Over 100 ballet enthusiasts and dancers mingled and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while Guild President John Walker and Artistic Director Devon Carney spoke of the exciting new season ahead. Proceeds raised by the Kansas City Ballet Guild help support the company’s repertory, its engagement and educational programs, as well as the Kansas City Ballet Archives.

KC Ballet Guild Spring Luncheon
The Kansas City Ballet Guild held its annual Spring Luncheon on May 9th at the Carriage Club. Hosts Felicia Bondi and Pauline Henne planned the lovely luncheon – Craig Sole provided the beautiful floral arrangements. President Susan Meehan-Mizer recognized special guest, Rene Horne, a retiring staff member after 12 years of service to the Ballet. After, guests were treated to a dance performance by Kansas City Ballet’s Youth Ballet, Susan introduced the 2019-2020 Guild Board and passed the gavel to her successor, incoming President John Walker.

Generous patrons of the 2018 Ballet Ball, The Emerald City Ball, were guests at a private dinner on the stage of the Muriel Kauffman Theatre at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. The Emerald City scene from The Wizard of Oz ballet provided the perfect setting for the event underwritten by the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation. The exquisite four-course dinner was served amid the lovely table décor provided by Craig Sole and Larry Wheeler. Guests enjoyed Kansas City Ballet Second Company Dancers and Trainees performing a number from The Wizard of Oz.

Kansas City Ballet Guild will hold its annual gala on October 6th at the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza. Gigi Rose is serving as chair of the event that will kick off the Kansas City Ballet season. The theme, “The Emerald City Ball”, will commemorate the Ballet’s world premiere The Wizard of Oz which opens October 12th.
The recipient of the Guild’s Pirouette Award will be announced at the Ball. This award is presented annually to an individual whose extraordinary volunteer efforts have benefited the Kansas City Ballet and the performing arts community.
Proceeds from the gala support the Kansas City Ballet and Kansas City Ballet School.
