Now that Summer is officially over, join us as we review what made the season great.
Kansas City Ballet School’s 2016 Summer Intensive program ran from June 20-July 22 at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity. This year more than 170 students were on hand to learn from such world-class instructors as Karin Averty, Deirdre Chapman, Evelyn Cisneros, Parrish Maynard, Bruce Wells, Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney and more. Dancers represented 29 states across the US and three other countries, Bulgaria, Mexico and Japan.
Attendees not only were immersed in ballet and dance classes but also health and fitness classes such as Pilates, TheraBand and yoga. And to really bring participants together, there were activities around KC as well including a pool party, Worlds of Fun, Starlight Theatre, a World Series champions KC Royals baseball game, and more!
This year two students who attended the intensive were invited to join KCB’s Trainee Program for the 2016-2017 season. They were Kate Anderson and Scout Inghilterra. Three dancers from the 2015 Summer Intensive who attended company auditions were also selected to join as Trainees: Samantha Huebner, Lukas Pringle and Allison Rainford.
It was another amazing summer for the books.
