Where is the Lyric Theatre and how do I get there?
The Lyric Theatre is located at 11th and Central in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, 64105. This theater is easily accessible from either I-35 or I-70 by the Broadway Boulevard exits. For alternate routes or more detail, visit mapquest.com or maps.google.com.

Where is the Music Hall and how do I get there?
The Music Hall is located at 301 W. 13th Street (13th & Central) in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, 64105. This theater is easily accessible from either I-35 or I-70 by the Broadway Boulevard exits. For alternate routes or more detail, visit mapquest.com or maps.google.com.

How do I contact the Kansas City Ballet?
Administrative Phone: 816-931-2232. The Kansas City Ballet box office is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. and is located at 1616 Broadway St. in downtown Kansas City, MO. On performance dates, the Lyric Theater is open: Thursday and Friday, 5:30 p.m. through the first intermission and Saturday’s noon through the first intermission of the evening performance and on Sundays from noon through the first intermission.  For performances at the Music Hall the box office is open 2 hours before each performance and will stay open until 30 minutes after curtain of the last performance of the day. 

What do I wear?
You should wear whatever you like! You will see people in a wide range of dress. Many come from work in business attire and some attend wearing jeans. If you are looking for an opportunity to wear that new cocktail dress or the beautiful Italian suit you purchased while traveling, there will be others dressed up, as well.

Where may I park?
You can park in any of the following garages for a fee. Click here for more detailed parking information.

  • 10 Central Parking - entrance on 10th Street between Broadway and Central
  • Cathedral Square - entrance on 13th Street between Washington and Broadway
  • Block 89 - entrance on 12th Street between Broadway and Central
  • Wyandotte Garage - entrance on Baltimore between 10th and 11th streets

How early should I arrive?
Traffic delays and parking can be unpredictable. Plan to arrive early to assure a relaxed, enjoyable experience. If your tickets are at Will Call, it is best to pick them up at the Box Office at least 45 minutes prior to the performance to avoid long lines.

If you have your tickets in hand, you need to allow plenty of time for traffic delays and parking. Entering the theater about 30 minutes before the performance should give you time to get to your seat and to have a look at your program book before the curtain goes up. Latecomer seating is at the discretion of the house management.

You may also arrive an hour early and enjoy a pre-curtain performance talk, called Footnotes, with Artistic Director William Whitener.

May I bring my children?
Many children over the age of five can remain happily and quietly seated for a two-hour performance but you know your child best. The Nutcracker is an excellent introduction for children. Please note all persons entering the theater must have a ticket, including babies in arms and small children sitting on a parent or guardian’s lap. These tickets are sold at full price for the seating selection. Parents will be asked to remove children creating a disturbance during the performance. No refunds will be available.

Are there discounts for students and seniors?
For The Nutcracker, there are no discounts for children, students, or seniors.

We often offer discounted tickets to seniors and full-time students to individual performances of the Repertory Season on the day of the performance, subject to availability. It is a good idea to call the day before the performance you wish to attend to verify if discounts will be available. Students who present valid I.D. at the box office two hours prior to the performance may get an available seat in the house for just $12.

Seniors age 62 and up who present valid I.D. at the box office two hours prior to all repertory performances will be able to purchase seats at the following discounted prices: $40 on the Main Floor - a savings of $24 - $39 off regular price, and $20 in the Balcony - a savings of $14 - $59 off regular price. Seats available as determined by advance ticket sales, some limitations may apply. Prices include Lyric Theatre facility charge. Rush sales end 15 minutes prior to curtain. What’s the difference between an evening-length ballet program and a mixed-rep program?
Ballet is similar to opera in that many ballet productions are based on stories that unfold over one to three acts during the course of an evening. The Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, and Swan Lake, are evening-length ballets that follow a story line and the work of a single composer.

A mixed repertory program has something for everyone. It’s a selection of three or four unrelated works that make up an evening of entertainment. The individual works may be based on a story, relationship or an abstract idea that evolves throughout the piece. The musical styles will often cover a wide range from piece to piece. A mixed repertory program can be an excellent introduction to ballet because of this variety.

Should I have my tickets mailed to me or arrange to pick them up at Will Call?
When time allows, it is best to have the tickets mailed to you in order to review the tickets when they arrive. Be sure to check the day, date, and time of performance, as well as the number of tickets.
Will Call is the option when the performance is less than a week away. Please allow plenty of time for traffic delays, parking lines, and a line at will call, as latecomers will be asked to wait in the lobby for a break in the program to be seated.

Where do I pick up Will Call tickets?
Will Call tickets are held at the Box Office located in the lobby of either the Lyric Theatre or the Music Hall, wherever the performance is taking place.

Do the theaters offer special services for the handicapped?
Infrared hearing devices are not available at either theater. The Lyric Theatre does not have an elevator but there is accessible seating on the orchestra level. At the Music Hall, the elevator is located on the right side of the inner lobby, just past the stairs. An usher will gladly direct you to it and assist you as needed. My online purchase did not complete. What should I do?
If you haven’t yet entered your payment, simply try again. If you entered your credit card number, but did not receive a confirmation page or email, it’s best to email us at boxoffice@kcballet.org or phone us at 816-931-2232.

How can I purchase tickets?
Tickets may be purchased through the website, by phone, fax and mail. Please allow two to three weeks for mail and fax orders to be processed. Please call the Kansas City Ballet box office at 816-931-2232 or 888-968-2538. It is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. and is located at 1616 Broadway St. in downtown Kansas City, MO. On performance dates, the Lyric Theatre (11th & Central) and Music Hall (301 West 13th Street) box office is open: Thursday and Friday, 5:30 p.m. to the first intermission; and Saturday and Sunday, 12 noon until the first intermission.

As a subscriber, if I buy additional tickets, will the tickets be next to the ones that I have for my subscription?
We will make an effort to secure seats next to your current seats; however, this is not always possible. We have subscribers who occupy many seats in the house. You may exchange your subscription tickets in order to get all of your tickets together. But if you don't want to give up your regular seats, we will find your guests the nearest available seats to the ones you currently hold.

Are my extra tickets exchangeable?
Only subscribers can exchange tickets.

As a subscriber, if I miss a performance, do I have the opportunity to see the show? Could I get a refund?
If you miss a performance and the run of that particular ballet has not ended, you can take advantage of "subscriber stand-by." Take your unused subscription tickets (it is not possible to do a subscriber stand-by with additional single tickets) to any of the remaining performances, go to the box office at least one hour before the performance starts, and you will receive the most comparable available seats for that performance. All tickets are final sales. Refunds are not possible.

How do I exchange my subscription tickets?
Subscription tickets may be exchanged from one evening to another (of the same production). Simply call the box office to arrange the new performance date, time and seating. The box office must receive the original tickets no later than 48 hours prior to the date printed on them. If exchanging for a ticket of higher value, the difference in price will be due. Ticket exchanges can be made at the box office, by mail or fax (old tickets that are faxed must be torn in half). We will mail the new tickets out upon receiving your old tickets, or you can have them held at your new performance at Will Call.
