Is Kansas City Ballet School only open
to serious, professionally inclined
students?
No, Kansas City Ballet School offers two different
tracks of study. One is for the preprofessional
dancer who intends for dance to be their career.
The other area of study
is for children or adults who understand the
value of ballet and dance training and
wish to receive the best teaching available
for vocational or recreational reasons.

When should my child begin dance training?
Generally, we accept children no younger than
five years old for ballet training. However, Kansas City Ballet School offers
Orff® classes in movement and music for
children ages three and four.

How much are tuition costs for the fall/winter
classes?
Tuition varies and depends upon how many classes
a student chooses to take. Arrangements may be made through the school
administrator to pay in installments.

Does tuition costs include dancewear and shoes?
No, however these items may be purchased at
a local retail store specializing in dance accessories. Contact the school administrator
for more information about supply requirements for classes you choose
to take.

How do I know at what level my child should
be enrolled?
Kansas City Ballet School reserves the right
to place students in the appropriate level and to revise the curriculum if necessary.

Do you award scholarships?
Yes. However, scholarship funds are very modest
and are highly competitive. The
scholarship program is reserved for pre-professional
students who intend to train for
a career in dance. Contact the school administrator

scholarship program.

What other styles of dance does Kansas City
Ballet School offer?
We currently offer classes in jazz, yoga,
tai chi, and men's technique, even though we are primarily a ballet school. Additional
classes will be added to our curricula in the future and new listings will be available
on our web site.

Do you offer adult classes in the evening?
Yes, we offer ballet, jazz, yoga and tai chi
throughout the year.

Do you offer beginner ballet classes for
adults?
Yes, if you have an interest in a beginning
ballet class for adults please email us at school@kcballet.org.

If my child is enrolled in Kansas City Ballet
School, would they get to perform with professional artists in
The Nutcracker?
Only children who are enrolled in the Kansas
City Ballet School can audition for roles in The Nutcracker, which is the largest annual
ballet production in the region.

What class levels are allowed to audition
for The Nutcracker?
Kansas City Ballet students who are in Children's
Levels PreBallet - VII (Ch I - VII) may audition for The Nutcracker. Participation
is by invitation through audition only. Audition dates are communicated to parents
and guardians in advance. Kansas City Ballet School does not guarantee a child's
placement in this annual holiday classic.

Does Kansas City Ballet School offer other
performance opportunities?
Yes. Kansas City Ballet students are given
the opportunity to perform in certain ballets depending upon what has been selected for
the season.

Do you have summer classes?
Yes. Kansas City Ballet School has a summer
intensive program, which is intended for the pre-professional ballet student, ages 11 through
19. The program is four weeks long.

Division l fee: $310
Division II fee: $375
Division III fee: $625
Divisions A-D: $1,000

Are
dormitory facilities provided for out-of-town
students who attend the Summer Intensive Programs and what are
the costs?
The dormitory facility is located on the campus
of Kansas City's Art Institute near the magnificent
Country Club Plaza. Chaperones will provide
bus transportation to and from classes. Cost
is $1,225 and all meals are included. An activity
fee of $250 is required for all boarding students.

Is an audition required to attend Summer
Intensive Program and where is it held?
Kansas City Ballet School staff conducts the
auditions for the Summer Intensive Program throughout the U.S. between January
and March.
If you are unable to attend an audition, one
may be arranged by sending us a video.
Kansas City Ballet School students do not
have to audition for the Summer Intensive
programs.
