The Metropolitan Kansas City Performing Arts Center (PAC) announced last month that they are reviewing the idea of relocating the site of the Center to the block between 10th and 11th streets and Wyandotte and Central Streets.

KCB Announces Appointment of Associate Ballet Mistress
KCB Dancer Lisa Thorn to Retire and Join Artistic Staff
William Whitener, artistic director of the Kansas City Ballet, announced the appointment of Lisa Thorn as Associate Ballet Mistress for the respected ballet organization on April 28. Ms. Thorn will retire after a remarkable 17-year history of dancing with the company. Ms. Thorn performed her final performances at the Kansas City Ballet Spring Program at the Lyric Theater May 5-8. At that time, she was honored for her incredible contribution and dedication.

KCB School Performance Culminates the 2004-05 School Year
The 2005 Kansas City Ballet School Performance will be Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22. It is a dance production showcasing the talents of advanced students ages 10 to 18 from the Downtown and Prairie Village campuses. The dancers will perform pieces in ballet, jazz and modern. The School Performance is a culmination of months of class instruction.

Students Revved Up For ROAD Rallies
Kansas City Ballet’s Reach Out And Dance (ROAD) program is finishing up the 2004-05 school year with a bang! More than 400 third and fourth graders in participating elementary schools are showcasing what they have learned and accomplished at their year-end ROAD Rallies.

Annual Fund Gifts Help Meet Funding Needs
Sitting in the Lyric Theatre watching a performance of Kansas City Ballet, the grace and strength of the dancers on stage is striking. You may think, “Wow! They make it seem so effortless.” What isn’t seen is the work that goes into creating that flawless beauty. Thousands of hours of rehearsal, hundreds of pointe shoes and dozens of production and administrative staff members all combine to put an evening of ballet on stage.

Greetings from the BARRE Board
This year we have been busy 'raising the barre' and trying to live up to our motto 'Art You Can Party With." We have had a lot of fun in the process, and we thank you for attending the events and helping to make our efforts successful.
