We thought last year’s summer intensive was good! Kansas City Ballet School’s Summer Intensive had an 8% increase in enrollment over 2004.

This past June 165 students, selected from a 24 city national audition tour, had the opportunity to train in a professional company/school atmosphere with guest master teachers Paula Weber, a former principal dancer with Milwaukee Ballet; Sharon Randolph, Director of St. Paul’s Dance Department in Concord, NH; Karen P. Brown, Ballet Mistress of Kansas City Ballet; and James Jordan, Ballet Master of Kansas City Ballet. This program gives students the unique opportunity to dance all day long without academics.

Student Anne Salvato said, “I have learned more in four weeks than I thought possible. I give the faculty credit for this. Their love for the art of dance and teaching shows through in class everyday.”

The students worked towards a final demonstration showcase featuring Levels A thru D held on July 8th. The Showcase demonstrated the students' progress in Ballet Technique, Variations, Jazz and Character Dance. More than 100 parents and friends attended each showcase.
