KCB School Welcomes New & Returning Faculty

 

 

 

 

Angelie Melzer

 

KCB School faculty expands this fall with the addition of Angelie Melzer and Tamara Carson, and the return of Flo Klenken.

Angelie Melzer joins the Kansas City Ballet School faculty after performing and teaching with numerous professional companies through the United States including Colorado Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet, and Dayton Ballet.

Ms. Melzer has trained in the Vaganova, Cechetti and Royal Academy of Dancing methods completing RAD examinations.

Ms. Melzer is a certified instructor and teacher trainer in “The Method” Pilates exercise and rehabilitation. This fall, she will be teaching pre-professional and open division pilates at Kansas City Ballet School.

 

 

 

 

Tamara Carson

 

Kansas City Ballet School pre-professional curriculum expands this fall with the addition of flamenco taught by Tamara Carson. Ms. Carson shares the rich, tradition of Spanish dance, music and culture gleaned from intensive dance training with Andalusian Gypsies in Barcelona, Spain.

Ever since her early Barcelona days, Ms. Carson has been committed to the profession of teaching Spanish dance to encourage respect for Spanish culture.

Ms. Carson’s extensive performance resume includes work with the Frankfurt Opera of Germany, the Kansas City Lyric Opera, Kansas City Ballet, and Kansas City Symphony. A graduate with distinction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dance Division, she has been an Artist-in-Residence for the University of Kansas.

 

 

 

 

Flo Klenken

 

Lastly, Kansas City Ballet School welcomes back Flo Klenken as she returns this fall to teach Children's II and yoga. Ms. Klenken has coordinated the operational and student administrative aspects for KCB School's Summer Intensive Program in Crested Butte for the past five years.

Ms. Klenklen has been associated with Kansas City Ballet and its school as a performer, teacher and administrator for over 30 years (since 1975). She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a B.A. in dance pedagogy, and her principal teacher was Tatiana Dokoudovska, founder of Kansas City Ballet.

Ms. Klenklen was a member of Kansas City Civic Ballet while in school, and she was one of the first dancers to be paid when the Company made the transition to become a professional organization.
