Kansas City Ballet School is dancing with American Girl this fall. "Dance Through Time" with American Girl, a fashion show hosted by the Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties to benefit children’s charities, will be held Saturday, September 10th, 2005. The 11th Annual event will be held at 11:00 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., at the Pembroke Hill School’s Hall Student Center, 5121 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri. The American Girl Collection, aimed at ages 7-12, features historic and contemporary dolls, along with matching clothes in girls’ sizes. Each character is a 9-year-old girl representing a different time in American history. This year’s Fashion Show will be showcasing American Girl Doll of the Year, Marisol, a dancer, thus the connection to Kansas City Ballet School. This newest American Girl doll loves to dance and dares to dream. Marisol is a contemporary character who is lively, confident, and imaginative, with a story to tell that’s all her own. The 18-inch doll is available for only one year.
At the Fashion Show, 29 area girls volunteer to participate in the event by acting the part of the girls in the American Girl books and wearing fashions reflecting each era. Lively commentary and music will serve as a backdrop with party favors, hands-on activities, refreshments and prizes all a part of the event. Kansas City Ballet School students will also add to the fun by opening each show with a special performance dedicated to this year’s theme. The celebrity MC will be Loren Halifax from WDAF-TV. Tickets are $21
per person ($18 is tax-deductible) and are available by calling 913-371-6310.
