"Classical Ballet Technique" by Gretchen Ward Warren

Kansas City Ballet is pleased to host Gretchen Ward Warren as a guest master instructor for the Crested Butte Summer Intensive.

Currently a Professor of Dance in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Warren’s experience in dance is diverse and rich. In addition to a successful 11-year career as a former soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet and Ballet Mistress of American Ballet Theatre II in New York, where she worked closely with Richard Englund and Mikhail Baryshnikov, she is an established choreographer of 16 ballets. Author of Classical Ballet Techniques and The Art of Teaching Ballet: Ten 20th Century Masters, her work can also be viewed in numerous print publications.

Students at Crested Butte Summer Intensive.

At the Crested Butte Summer Intensive, students will have the opportunity to study with Warren and immerse themselves in an exciting environment among professional artists including Andre Reyes, a former principal dancer of San Francisco Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet, and William Whitener, Artistic Director Kansas City Ballet, and Kansas City Ballet company dancers.

A rigorous schedule of classes includes ballet technique, pointe, variations, men’s technique, jazz, modern and the Pilates method. All Crested Butte students will have the opportunity to attend Kansas City Ballet dress rehearsals, presented by the Crested Butte Music Festival, and will participate in a studio performance for their families and the Crested Butte community on Friday, July 15.

Spots are still available for this unique ballet training opportunity. Please call Kansas City Ballet School at 816-931-2232 x321 or email school@kcballet.org for audition arrangements. For more information, click here.
