May Repertory Offers Ballet For Music Lovers
The Kansas City Ballet 2004-05 season concludes with the Spring Performance May 5 through 8 at the Lyric Theatre. This performance will particularly appeal to contemporary classical music lovers as it features music by composers Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, Maria del Mar Bonet, Lowell Liebermann and Toru Takemitsu.

KCB Dancers Participate in Celebrity Fingerpainting to Benefit AIDS Walk
Kansas City Ballet company dancers fingerpainted with their famous feet (and hands) to raise money for the 2005 AIDS WALK on March 9.

See their piece of work throughout the month of April at the Celebrity Finger Painting Gallery at Bar Natasha, 1911 Main Street, in downtown Kansas City.

Happy Hour's Spring Wine Festival
Join Happy Hour's Spring Wine Festival on Saturday, April 30, 2005, between 4-8 p.m. to taste premier wines and mingle with members of Kansas City Ballet. Visitors will also receive an engraved wine tasting glass for perfect for taste testing, enjoy appetizers, door prizes, and special "case" discounts. Since 2003, Happy Hour has hosted wine tastings for special Kansas City Ballet benefactor events.

Train With Guest Master Teacher Gretchen Ward Warren
Kansas City Ballet is pleased to host Gretchen Ward Warren as a guest master instructor for the Crested Butte Summer Intensive.

Currently a Professor of Dance in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Warren’s experience in dance is diverse and rich. In addition to a successful 11-year career as a former soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet and Ballet Mistress of American Ballet Theatre II in New York where she worked closely with Richard Englund and Mikhail Baryshnikov, she is an established choreographer of 16 ballets.

KCB School Performs With The Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City
On March 6, 2005, Kansas City Ballet School had the unique opportunity to perform with The Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City in their “Celebrate America” and “Dance” children’s concert at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the Park University campus in Parkville, MO.

Announcing the 2004-05 ROAD T-shirt Design & Winners
This past March, 100 hopeful young Reach Out And Dance students submitted their own t-shirt designs for the 2004-05 official ROAD shirt. Kansas City Ballet company dancers and staff voted for their favorite design from 10 semifinalists. It was a very close contest, but the winning design (pictured) was created by a team of two young ROAD students from Broken Arrow Elementary in Shawnee, Ashley Sanders and Michelle Stuessi.

Last Performance Event for BARRE Members
Looking for a great way to meet new people, support the arts and HAVE FUN? Come party with The Barre- the young professionals group of Kansas City Ballet at our last performance event of the season! Held before the Spring performance, the BARREFLY Opening Night Reception is Thursday, May 5, at 5:30 p.m. at 12 Baltimore in the Hotel Phillips.

A Special Young Friends Offer - Lily Tomlin: Unplugged
Rep Set, the young professionals group at Kansas City Repertory Theatre, is extending a special offer to members of other arts-centered young friends groups. This season, Kansas City Repertory Theatre is bringing Lily Tomlin: Unplugged to the Folly Theater on April 18 for its annual gala benefit. Regular tickets start at $150 per person. However, Rep Set invites Barre members to attend this fun night out for only $75 per person*. Ticket price includes a pre-performance reception with lots of food and beverages at the Folly Theater.

Kansas City Ballet Ball 2005
The past, present and future of the Kansas City Ballet was celebrated on Saturday, March 5th, when Kansas City Ballet Guild presented the annual Ballet Ball at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center Hotel. This year’s gala raised approximately $300,000 for Kansas City Ballet.
