Company Dancers

Matthew Powell

Mr. Powell received his training at the School of American Ballet, where he danced many roles in the works of George Balanchine and created a principal role in Christopher Wheeldon's Soiree Musicale. Mr. Powell then joined Pacific Northwest Ballet, where he danced roles such as Puck in George Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream in Seattle and abroad. He has also appeared as a soloist with the San Francisco Opera, dancing in Michael Smuin's Death in Venice. Of recent note, Mr. Powell was awarded one of three fellowships by the New York Choreographic Institute for his creation of his ballet Resonant Dances. This is Mr. Powell's seventh season with Kansas City Ballet.
